Heavy D's 'Love' Returns to Billboard's Charts
Following the passing of Heavy D, fans have showed their admiration for the late hip-hop luminary.
Following his passing Nov. 8 at 44, Heavy D & the Boyz' classic hit single "Now That We Found Love" debuts at No. 20 on Rap Digital Songs. It sold 18,000 downloads in the tracking week that ended Nov. 13, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The song had shifted less than 1,000 downloads the previous week.
The track concurrently bows atop the Yahoo! Videos list with 73,000 streams.
After reaching No. 11, "Love" wrapped its Hot 100 chart run exactly 20 years ago this week. The song was Heavy D's biggest single on the tally, where he notched four other hits through 1995. On the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, he posted 14 entries between 1986 and 1994.
Further, his new "Love Opus" studio album, released Sept. 27, has its best sales week yet, with 1,000 sold (up 2,194%). It's bubbling under the 75-position R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally.
Heavy D also debuts his greatest hits compilation "Heavy Hitz" at No. 11 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Catalog Albums chart (viewable on billboard.biz/charts), shifting 3,000 (up 4,931%).
