When country trio Edens Edge -- Hannah Blaylock, Cherrill Green and Dean Berner -- went on tour with Brad Paisley last year, they practiced a version of the country superstar's "Whiskey Lullaby," in preparation for the night when Paisley would join them onstage. They did, and "it was acoustic and really organic and so much fun," said Blaylock. "It was one of the coolest moments of our career."
Watch above as Edens Edge performs "Whiskey Lullaby" -- a cover of Paisley's duet with Alison Krauss -- and the three members talk about that small moment that shaped the big picture in their musical career.
"We prepared 'Whiskey Lullaby' because it's one of our all-time favorite songs," Blaylock continued. "Not only because it's sung by two of our favorite artists ever, but just the song itself is such an amazing piece of art and music and we love sad songs."
Since signing to Big Machine Label Group in 2010, the trio has delivered a debut EP and the top 20 Billboard Hot Country Songs single "Amen." "Our belief is that we want to focus on today, and we know the ultimate goal and we all are on the same page about that, but today is what matters," Green mused. "One step at a time gets you where you want to go."
The group's first studio album, "Edens Edge," debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Country Albums chart the week of June 30 with 9,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. For their Candid Covers session, Edens Edge performed their latest single, "Too Good To Be True."
"'Too Good To Be True' is one of those songs that we didn't write but it made the record because the first time we heard it, we loved the groove," explained Berner. "It's so infectious, it's got a great message and it's something that everybody's probably experienced, one of those things in your life that you think is really great but it ends up not being so."
