British singer Cher Lloyd may only be 19 years old, but she's already displayed some of the pop chops that have made Katy Perry such a huge star in recent years. As a very special installment of our Women In Music-themed Candid Covers video series, the young Englishwoman showed just how dear Katy's songs are by covering Perry's Hot 100 No. 1 hit "E.T." live at Billboard's Nov. 30 Women In Music event. The performance took place not only in front of a roomful of the music world's most important ladies, but also in front of Woman of the Year Katy Perry herself.
Lloyd's confident vocal performance created one of those small moments that really color in the big picture. In the video clip above, watch as an applauding Katy Perry expectantly and excitedly takes a deep breath as Lloyd begins to sing her song.
The teen Brit, of course, has seen big success herself this year. "The X-Factor" U.K. runner up's 2012 debut album "Sticks & Stones" debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Cher Lloyd's single, "Want U Back," earned top 10 love on the Pop Songs chart. This success also earned Lloyd a top 10 placement on Billboard.com's 2012 "21 Under 21" ranking of the key young people in music. This week, her current single "Oath," featuring Becky G, rose into the top 30 of Pop Songs.
At the Women In Music event, Lloyd also sang "Want U Back" for the gathered VIPs as part of the video series. Watch the performance in the player below.
