'TURNING' 'TABLE'-D?

Hello Gary!

With "Rumour Has It" gone from the Hot 100 this past week, and with "Set Fire to the Rain" in its 43rd and possibly last week on the survey, it'll be strange to see Adele's name absent from the Hot 100.

I recently heard "Turning Tables" on the new "Dallas" reboot and saw it performed on "America's Got Talent." I know it already reached No. 63 on the Hot 100 and has sold well as an album cut from "21," but, as far as I know, it's not being promoted as a single.

Have you heard otherwise?

Many thanks, as always,

Hi Ron,

Adele's "Tables" has already sold 702,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The "Glee" cast's cover featuring Gwyneth Paltrow (a No. 66 Hot 100 hit) has also shifted 113,000. Add in the 9,450,000 copies that "21" has sold in the U.S. and that's more than 10 million purchases for the song.

For an album cut, that's not too bad, is it?

The only piece missing is radio airplay. I've long thought that the ballad, co-written by OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, would be a pop/adult radio slam dunk. Considering that the formats allowed for a slowing down of tempo to make "Someone Like You" a Hot 100 No. 1, as well as Adele's incredibly uncommon sales momentum for "21," "Tables" would likewise seem to receive programmers' all-out approval. Props to Pop Songs reporter WBLI Nassau, N.Y., which has played "Tables" 79 times since adding it into rotation on June 1, with 15 spins for it in the past seven days (June 25-July 1), according to Nielsen BDS.

A Columbia rep confirms to Billboard, however, that the label presently has no plans for a follow-up single to "Rumour."

Adele, of course, will be busy with a new love, having revealed her pregnancy on Friday (June 28).

"I'm delighted to announce that (boyfriend) Simon (Konecki) and I are expecting our first child together," she wrote on her blog. "I wanted you to hear the news direct from me.

"Obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time.

"Yours always, Adele xx."
