Desi Hits! Founder Anjula Acharia-Bath Named to United Nations' Girl Up Advisory Council

Desi Hits! co-founder and CEO Anjula Acharia-Bath has been named to the Advisory Council of the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign. The 2014 Billboard International Power Player joins 11 other influential entrepreneurs, media personalities and advocates who will now comprise the new advisory board as a compliment to the existing Teen Advisory Board, all for the purpose of supporting women around the world.

"When girls and women are empowered, communities, countries and the world benefit. When you educate girls, you educate a family, a community and a nation. I’m committed to fighting for girls, I’ve never been the quiet type to stand by and watch, and the opportunity to join GirlUp offers us a stage and sound system to make our voices heard," Acharia-Bath said in a statement.

Acharia-Bath joins senior vice president and deputy general counsel of Nickelodeon Networks Rhonda Medina, president of women in film and Mandalay Pictures Cathy Schulman, Access Hollywood co-host Shaun Robinson and others on the new advisory council with intent of helping guide Girl Up's campaigns, focusing its efforts to reach fundraising and advocacy goals, advising on overall strategy and raising awareness among new audiences about issues facing adolescent girls.
