The Green Day String Tribute, as performed by the cleverly titled String Tribute Players features ten songs culled from the popular punk-pop outfit's 1994-2005 output. Stripped of their raw power, tracks like "American Idiot," "Basket Case," and "Holiday" sound downright sweet, but the ballads "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" fit the format like a glove. Either way, Green Day songs sound just as simplistic with two violins, a viola, and a cello as they do drums, bass, and guitar. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
