Roy Clark is in full good-time mode on the ten tracks that make up The Branson Sound, romping through a set of mainly uptempo country-pop tunes and early rock & roll hits of the '50s. While the pace is slowed down slightly on "Night Life" and "Tobacco Road," the remaining cuts celebrate Clark's instrumental dexterity and some of his favorite material by Chuck Berry ("Johnny B. Goode," "Memphis," and "Too Much Monkey Business"), the Big Bopper, and Glenn Miller. This fun and lighthearted set is recommended. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
