Favorite Country Songs - Ricky Skaggs

AMG Review

On numerous albums recorded during the height of Ricky Skaggs' domination of the country charts in the mid-'80s, he always recorded tunes written or influenced by the pioneers of country and bluegrass music. Favorite Country Songs is a ten-track compilation featuring many of those influential tunes, including two by the Stanley Brothers ("If That's the Way You Feel" and "I'll Take the Blame"), Bill Monroe's "Can't You Hear Me Calling," and "Your Old Love Letters," a hit in the early '60s for both Porter Wagoner and Jim Reeves. This is an interesting tribute to the music that greatly influenced Skaggs. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
