It Is Well - Kutless

AMG Review

The Portland, OR quintet's big, booming rock translates surprisingly well to the worship setting once again on It Is Well, their most fulfilling effort since 2005's Strong Tower. One reason Tower won over so many fans was its authentic vertical praise, something not easily accomplished by a band that is frequently compared to 3 Doors Down, Creed, and Nickelback. It Is Well represents another transformation in direction without departing from their core Kutless sound. The album may be driven by perfectly fitted guitar work, but the most memorable element is Jon Micah Sumrall's voice. It soars on compelling anthems like "You Save Me," first single "What Faith Can Do," and the title track, a modern cut of the 19th century hymn. "Remember Me" brings them back to their modern rock roots, with a Staind-like riff powering home a message of vulnerability. The album received a warm response from fans, debuting at number 42 on the Billboard Top 200 and number three on Billboard Top Christian Albums. ~ Jared Johnson, All Music Guide
