Surprisingly, this television soundtrack featuring the Supremes and the Temptations soared to the pinnacle -- number one -- a studio album by them released earlier climbed to number two on Billboard's Pop Album Chart. More than three decades later, however, T.C.B. is unlistenable. Still, it proved a good vehicle for both groups, and accomplished its goal by helping them cross over, along with getting them gigs in Las Vegas casinos, and prestigious high paying clubs like the Copacabana. Watching the two groups interact and sing these songs on the television special was more enjoyable then listening to the record. T.C.B. is watered down Temptations and Diana Ross & the Supremes. The songs, even the hits, sound campy; the big band didn't help. If a current Urban Contemporary artist released a CD like this today they would be crucified by their fans and magazines like Vibe, Source and Rolling Stone. But it worked: fans bought this album, and a bigger untapped audience discovered the versatility of arguably the best male, and the best female vocal group of all time. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
