Released worldwide (except for the U.S.) in 1985 to coincide with the return of Deep Purple's notorious Mark II lineup, Fireworks is a solid greatest-hits collection concentrating on the band's early-'70s material. With a track listing nearly identical to that of the much-easier-to-find Deepest Purple collection, the album contains such essentials as "Smoke on the Water," "Child in Time," and "Highway Star," as well as a couple of gems from the David Coverdale-fronted Mark III lineup, "Burn" and "Soldier of Fortune." ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
