Different Story - Deadeye Dick

AMG Review

Thanks to the appearance of the tongue-in-cheek single "New Age Girl" on the soundtrack to the movie Dumb and Dumber, Deadeye Dick became a surprise success in 1994. They also quickly proved to be one-hit-wonders, but fans of that song who take the time to listen to Deadeye Dick's first full-length album will be quite pleased. Upbeat, bright college rock abounds on the entire hook-filled collection. Several of the songs, including the punchy follow-up singles "Perfect Family" and "Marguerite," prove this band could have been significantly more than a one-hit wonder. At 33 minutes, the disc is a little short, but luckily the abbreviated disc time means that there is less filler than is found on many similar debut albums. Overall, a very solid debut from a party-friendly pop band. ~ Jason Damas, All Music Guide
