Seminal U.K. modern rock act the Cure has signed a three-album deal with producer Ross Robinson's ARTISTdirect Records imprint, I AM. Led by singer/guitarist Robert Smith, the band and Robinson are expected to begin work in London in July on a new album.
Pioneering U.K. modern rock outfit the Cure has sidestepped longstanding breakup rumors by including two new songs on its forthcoming "Greatest Hits," due Nov. 13 on Elektra. The songs, "Cut Here" and "Just Say Yes," were recorded in London and mark the group's first new songs since the 2000 album "Bloodflowers." That set debuted at No. 16 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 277,000 copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan.
